2011-2012 Annual Campaign

 

Dear Friend & Member of TRRA,

Although the water season got off to a slow start due to the extreme flooding of the Allegheny River, we have still managed to have a good year so far in both paddling and rowing. We hope you agree that we have had another terrific year for our organization with the awarding of 2010 USRowing Club of the Year last November. This honor would not be possible without members like you contributing countless volunteer hours and monetary donations. We had our most successful annual campaign ever in 2010.

We hope that your support of TRRA will continue to take the form of a personal or corporate contribution to our Annual Campaign. Gifts of this kind have made significant contributions to our funds for many years and are deeply appreciated.

Once again this year, we are kicking off our Annual Capital Campaign by participating in the Pittsburgh Foundation’s Day of Giving on October 4th, 2011. The Pittsburgh Foundation has $150,000 which will be split across contributions made to participating organizations within a 24 hour period on October 4th. Last year every contribution was matched 20% and the Pittsburgh Foundation hopes for a similar number this year.

Last year, your contributions from the Day of Giving were used to purchase new equipment which included two new fours, a new quad, a new double, a new pair, a new eight, a new wakeless launch, several new launch motors, new cox boxes, four new paddle erg adaptors, and support equipment for our adaptive rowing program. We have also been able to replace locks and some carpet at both boathouses and finish the 2009 project of getting the new windows at the Lambert Boathouse. All in one year!

This year we plan to use the Day of Giving donations to purchase new rowing and paddling equipment and creating a fund to purchase a new TRRA truck and trailer. An anonymous donor has offered to match a $5,000 donation toward a lightweight double and we will announce a full list of equipment we hope to purchase in the coming weeks before the actual Day of Giving. As an extra incentive this year, TRRA members who donate on the Day of Giving will be included in a random drawing to name one of five unnamed TRRA boats (naming of the boats require TRRA Executive Director approval).
