High School Dragon Boat Challenge
The Dragon Boat Challenge is open to students ages 10-18
and will be held at the 2007 Pittsburgh Dragon Boat Races.
The race will name a 2007 scholastic team winner and award
prizes to the first and second place schools. All paddlers
will receive awards and recognition at the awards ceremony.
$20 per student entry fee.
Team Eligibility
All paddlers on the team must be from the same school. Teams
must have between 14 and 22 paddlers to enter the race, boats
have 20 seats thus teams of over 20 paddlers must use subs.
Teams are mixed and may not have more than 12 males racing
at a time. The team must also provide a drummer for the boat.
Paddlers must be between the ages of 10 and 18 as of June
16, 2007. All students racing must attend at least one practice
session prior to race day with either Three Rivers Rowing
Association or Steel City Dragons.
1st place:
• $1,000 donated to the school
• $1,000 in prizes divided evenly amongst the students
who race
• Dragon Boat Challenge Trophy for one year
• Dragon Boat Challenge plaque for permanent display
at school
2nd place:
• $500 check donation to the school
• $500 in prizes divided evenly amongst the students
who race
• Dragon Boat Challenge plaque
3rd – 5th place:
• Medals
• Dragon Boat Challenge plaque
6th place and up:
• Ribbons
• Dragon Boat Challenge plaque
