Dragon Tournament
Races and water time from 3pm-4pm
Ticket sales at the registration/information table next to
the fountain at Station Square
Ticket sales end at 2pm, followed by land based instruction
Seventy Two seats will be available for the Dragon Tournament.
Anyone can sign up for these races, no experience
is needed. Individuals will be divided into teams
of 18 racers. Before boarding the boats, paddlers will get
a 20 minute introduction to the dragon boat stroke, how to
work as a team and boat safety. Teams will warm up on the
water then race three 200 meter races (a heart pounding one
minute race). The winning team will have the best record across
the three races. Boats are steered by experts and all paddlers
wear floatation as precaution.
Awards will follow the races on the main stage.
WARNING
This is an athletic event that requires some level of fitness.
Expect high heart rates, heavy breathing and the need for
coordination. Though very unlikely this is a water sport and
there is a chance of ending up in the water. Comfort near
the water is a must.
Race tickets are
$20
Students with ID and racers ages 12-18 tickets are $15
Registration for the race ends at 2pm, Race is at 3pm
tickets for those who raced in another event are $10
