2013 Dick's Sporting Goods Marathon
Run for a Reason Charity - Three Rivers Rowing
All funds raised by participants in the Dick's Sporting Goods Marathon will go towards one specific outreach program at TRRA called First Row. The mission of the First Row program is to engage Pittsburgh’s urban high school girls in a community rowing program that cultivates self-discipline, confidence, team-building and improved health. Money raised will go towards covering transportation, equipment, apparel, race/travel expenses, swim lessons and coaching staff for the team in 2013. To find out more about First Row go to www.thefirstrow.org

to compete at local/away races; and have transportation to get athletes to/from
practice. If you want to find out more about First Row – one of TRRA’s

option for people who have not already registered for the marathon through
Active. Choosing this option shows dedication to raise our minimum requested
donation amount. If you reach our $100 minimum by March 29, 2013 we will
pay your registration fee.
II’ve already registered for the Marathon on Active, but I want to fundraise - Free. This is the option if you have already registered/paid for the marathon. Should you reach our $100 minimum goal by March 29, 2013, you have the option to request a refund the amount you paid for your registration fee. Then continue with the registration process.
How do I sign up to run for TRRA within my Relay Team, even if the other members aren’t fundraising or are running for another charity?
If you have some members of a Relay team (but not all) who are interested in running for TRRA we can get you set up! Contact us directly and we can get you set up with your own individual fundraising page. Our recommended fundraising amount for each member of a relay is $150.

What are the fundraising goals for runners?
We ask our runners to think about having these minimum fundraising goals for their events. The below amounts are what we recommend as a goal for runners. Money should be collected by May 11, 2013. We do not require this amount, but hope that our runners are motivated to raise support for our First Row program. *NOTE: If you do not meet these goals, you will not be required to pay the remaining balance.
Full Marathon - $500
Half Marathon - $350
Relay Team - $750 total ($150 per person)
5K - $150
Kids - $50
We request that each individual runner raise at least $100 (except kids) by March 29, 2013 in order to cover your registration fee expense.
How do I raise money once I sign up?
TRRA put together a toolkit full of some ideas and sample letters to help you get started. Check those out here:
Runner Fundraising Toolkit
First Time Runner Sample Letter
Veteran Runner Sample Letter
What if I don’t reach the $100 fundraising minimum goal by the March 29th deadline?
If you already paid your registration fee for the marathon, and are unable to raise at least $100 by March 29, 2013 absolutely nothing will happen. However, we will not be able to reimburse for your registration fee. Thank you for your donation towards First Row!
If you registered through our charity directly, did not pay your event registration and are unable to raise at least $100 by March 29, 2013 we will not be able to pay for your registration fee. This means we will ask for you to make a personal donation of $100 to your fundraising page at this time.

Does our team have a uniform for race day?
We will provide red First Row t-shirts to all of our runners in the size you requested when you registered for the race. We would love to have our runners/volunteers race in these shirts.
I can't run, but can I still help?
We will need a few day-of-event volunteers to help out at the marathon representing the Three Rivers Rowing Association Charity at the start line from 4:30am – 12:00pm. This is a great opportunity to cheer on the TRRA runners as they start the race! If interested in being involved please register using the link below and make sure to sign up under Three Rivers Rowing Association.
We would love to have help getting information out about running for TRRA
and First Row. You can pick up some flyers to hand out next time you are running
at North Park…etc, or to take to running stores.
You can help fundraise by spreading the word about our fundraising page and
asking your friends to donate.
