First Practice Saturday, April 19 at Millvale at 9:00 AM
All practices after Saturday will take place at Lambert Boathouse on Washington's Landing
This team is meant for adults who are looking to learn the sport of rowing in a team environment with professional coaching. We recommend that all people new to the sport spend at least one rowing season with this team before jumping to either the Competitive Morning Masters Women or Men or the Evening Mixed Masters Team. This team will be comprised of a diverse group of men and women of all ages (21+) and backgrounds and will meet two days a week. The team is perfect for those who have begun in our Winter Rowing League. In addition, we welcome people who have some rowing experience but would like to improve their technical skills in a structured environment. No experience is necessary to come try the sport and the team so come down for a practice soon! (contact info below)
Practice Schedule
The sessions are coached by a TRRA Coach. While that individual has not been named, the goal is to have one person as the head coach of the team. The practice schedule while the team is on the water is:
Water Practices (approx April - November)
The team meets at Washington's Landing for all practices.
Tuesday evening at 6:15-8:00 pm (on the water by 6:30)
Saturday morning at 9:00-11:00 am
We expect to be on the water through November. The team will continue to practice through the winter-we just move inside. Teammembers will also be given a chance to move to either the Evening Mixed Masters or Men's or Women's Masters teams at the end of the water season.
Winter Practices (approx December - March)
To be announced
Other Info about the Team:
The team and the coach will decide together whether they travel to any races and compete. The focus of the team will be to learn the sport properly and therefore be able to jump to the more experienced teams that much more easily. Rowing two times per week will allow team members to progress as rowers rather quickly. Practices are not mandatory and the team and coach will work with an individual's schedules as conflicts due to family and work arrise. Do remember that the more often you are able to attend, the faster your skills will develop for yourself and the team! In addition to rowing instruction, there will be a strong focus on water safety and equipment handling.
To Join:
New members are welcome to join our workouts on a trial basis. In addition to the fees outlined, team members will pay separately for personal travel expenses and entry and related fees for any regattas in which they choose to participate. Everyone will be allowed three to four practices before they have to commit with any memberships. Once an individual decides to join the team, they must pay Three Rivers Rowing membership fees as well as team dues which go to pay the coach and maintain the equipment they use. Information about these fees can be found to the right of this page. If you choose to join, you will become a member of one of the top boathouses in the nation. Three Rivers Rowing won the first annual USRowing Club of the Year in 2002 and owns not just one, but TWO of the nicest community boathouses in the nation.
Additional Details:
We encourage any interested potential rowers to attend the first meeting Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 7:00 pm at our Washington's Landing Boathouse. Directions
