2008 Beginner Sweep Team
If you want to lean how to sweep row, this class is the best place to start due to the one-on-one coaching that you can't get with any other beginner class. TRRA's Sweep Team is an introductory course into the sport of rowing that will expose interested participants to the fundamentals of rowing with one oar. This will give the member enough experience to figure out what steps they will want to take as they move forward with the sport.
All practices are fully coached, with an experienced coxswain. The first
few weeks will also have experienced rowers to maintain the stability of the
boat, so all you have to focus on is learning!
Twice during each session, the team will also integrate with the Summer/Corporate
Rowing League and row on a weeknight. This extra pratice is for you to experience
what it's like to row with a bigger group (more boats on the water at once).
It's also an extra practice day.
The first lesson takes place at the Millvale
Training Center.
All subsequent lessons are the the Lambert Boathouse on Washingtons Landing.
Rowers who wish to continue rowing in more of a competitive and fun atmosphere after the Aug 13th end date have the option of signing up for Summer/Corporate Rowing League Season Three, which begins on Aug. 29th. This session of S/CRL is for experienced rowers only and must be comfortable on the water. SCRL ends with the Head of the Ohio regatta, which you're welcome to participate in.
