It’s indoor rowing season and the erg is calling your name. There’s something about locking in, pulling a ridiculous amount of meters, pumping a lil' iron, drinking a gallon of water and taking a nap before going to see relatives.
White weather or gray, there always seems to be time to catch a good work out over holiday break. Old friends are in town; the dog is excited; grab a hat and go outside! Oh oh oh, but you always listen to those same old songs!😝
Never fear! TRRA has you covered for the next couple of weeks.
Enjoy these hand-curated (mostly clean) playlists from the Spotify accounts of our TRRA Staff and rowers. Apologies if you don’t use Spotify!

Warning: May be difficult not to get up and start head-banging during a piece. At 140-160 BPM, use extreme caution. On the other hand, more snare + more bass = higher stroke rates. Drum and Bass has been heard in the erg room before: it simply needs . . . an update. Enter the chambers of classic Jungle break beats and new school x old school DnB with heavy doses of dreamland lyricism and high-protein bass. @Netsky @NiaArchives @WatchtheRide @FoxStevenson. Who needs creatine when you’ve got this playlist and a cuppa joe? ~DJDirt

‘Tis the season for nostalgia and sweat. A calming, inspirational list of classics for the winter break indoor training sessions or a jog in the park, runny noses notwithstanding. There’s a reason these songs are considered all-time classics of our culture. “PR” this holiday season with Michael Bublé and Dean Martin in the background. Find your favorites from @StevieWonder @TheJackson5 and @TransSibereanOrchestra. #Felíz Navidad. Playlist courtesy of Adaptive Team Coach @MatthewHouser.

Perhaps the winner for “best name” on our list of lists, Rock n’ Row is an eclectic mix of Rock and Roll classics that are sure to make you remove your ponytail and put on a headband instead, for this piece at least. Maybe a pair of rose-colored glasses. @Journey, @TOTO, @ZZTop, @Eagles Thank you @BriMcDonagh!

This Throwback list should probably be played on a Thursday… “Girl you know you knock me out.” Down-tempo piano and big questions, this list is probably better for a cool down piece or to be played in a hot shower. For the gypsy woman in you. @JoeBataan, @CharlesBradley, @IdrisMuhammad, @NinaSimone S/o @SophiaWilliamson Can you guess how many rap songs have sampled these tracks?
If you have a playlist you want to add to our collective list, send it over to aodhanridenour@threeriversrowing.org and we’ll add it to this webpage!
