Staff Saturdays - Matt Grau

Welcome back Staff Saturdays! Today we have Matt Grau, Director of Youth Rowing!

  • How did you get into rowing and what is your background in the sport?

"I started rowing as a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh. Since then, I have coached at Taylor Allderdice High School, Steel City Rowing Club, and Jackson-Reed High School (formerly Wilson High School). I've also spent time with the US U19 National Team System, including as a Selection Development Assistant Coach, Camp Director for the Olympic Development Program, and as the High Performance/CanAmMex Sculling Coach."

  • What brings you to TRRA?

"My wife and I moved to Pittsburgh from DC specifically for the opportunities available at TRRA. I also consider Pittsburgh home so it was a great opportunity to return home."

  • What is your favorite part of the club?

"My favorite part of the club is the large group of passionate individuals that make up our coaching staff, our club administration, our membership base, and our rowing community."

  • Favorite sports team?

"Hail to Pitt"
