Dear TRRA Community,
Thank you to everyone who participated in and promoted the Virtual Head of the Ohio Regatta! Throughout the course of the weekend, over 400 competitors, representing 32 states and five countries participated in rowing, paddling, running, and cycling events. HOTO weekend culminated with a powerful and inspiring Community Conversation, featuring Arshay Cooper, Denise Aquino, Carol Schoenecker, and Richard Butler. The conversation focused on Arshay’s award-winning memoir and documentary, A Most Beautiful Thing, and how we can make our boathouse a lighthouse for all communities in Pittsburgh. Please continue to read on to learn more about what's happening at TRRA this fall.
Be safe and Be well,
Matt Logue Executive Director
ROW-A-THON
Once we realized that we could not host a traditional HOTO, our goal became to provide a safe and inclusive event that would engage all constituencies of our community - athletes, programs, coaches, families, stakeholders, and more. One concept we included was the Row-a-Thon fundraiser. The idea behind this was to create an event in which teams or organizations could leverage their participation in HOTO into a fundraiser for their team or organization. We envisioned an event that would support the entire rowing community as all programs combat the financial hardships caused by the pandemic. We are incredibly grateful for all of the donations raised by the teams of TRRA in the very short period of time leading up to HOTO.
ANNUAL APPEAL CAMPAIGN
As we look towards the end of the year, we are going to pivot the HOTO Row-a-Thon campaign into TRRA’s end of year Annual Campaign and extend this push through December. Rather than introduce a letter-writing campaign in November as per tradition, we intend to build on the momentum established by our TRRA teams over the last few weeks and unify our efforts to reach our $50,000 goal. All funds raised through the row-a-thon will count towards the annual campaign. These funds will sustain the club through the winter months and ensure that we're in a position to safely return to the water in the spring. We recognize and are grateful for the generous support of TRRA members, families, and friends throughout 2020. Now we are calling on our entire community to be Ambassadors of Three Rivers and take this campaign to the next level and share our story and our impact with your networks and communities; your companies and friends. Help us find new sources of support that we can continue to cultivate far into the future so that the lift is lighter for us all. Together we can get through these challenging months ahead.
