TRRA Community Update: June 2022

Dear TRRA Community Members,

We are halfway through 2022 and what a year it has been so far! I cannot tell you how invigorating it is to have both our campuses busy with activity each and every day of the week. Seeing all of our programs, rowing and paddling, back out on the water (and racing!) again fills us all with pride. It is a great time to be a part of TRRA.

June is picking up right where May left off. Our AAA team will be traveling to their first race of the year in Washington, DC this weekend, and our Youth program will travel to Florida next week to conclude their spring season at the Youth National Championships. Following that, there will be a Dragon Boat Mini-Camp hosted by the Pittsburgh Paddlefish, National Learn to Row & Paddle Day (June 18th), the return of Adult Learn to Row (info coming soon!) and several community events taking place across the region (Millvale Pride, Juneteenth, TRRA Community Conversations, etc.). More information will be available on each and every one of these events in the coming weeks.

Summer is a great season to be on the water in Pittsburgh and we are looking forward to ensuring each and every on water opportunity is seized for our entire TRRA community. We cannot thank you enough for being an active part of our community and look forward to growing, both on and off the water, with each of you this season.

Be safe and be well,

Matt Logue

Executive Director

PARKING LOT RESURFACING

This month, the parking lot at 500 Waterfront Drive (over the Boat Bays on Washington’s Landing) will be resurfaced. Due to the complex nature of paving over the boat bays, this project is predicted to take approximately 3-weeks. During that time, there will be no parking in that lot. TRRA participants can park in the lot at the top of the island near the tennis courts.

As a reminder: Parking is prohibited in all lots on Washington’s Landing, except the tennis court lot, between the hours of 7am and 5pm on business days. Anyone who is parked in any business lot during these hours may be towed at the car owner's expense.

WHY I ROW AND PADDLE

Last year, we featured monthly stories from our community members who shared their personal connections to the sports of rowing and paddling. The stories were such an inspiration, and a huge success! Our readers and community members loved them! We are so excited to restart the series, but it's not possible without your help. If you'd like to share your story as to why you row or paddle, please sign up through the link below.
